Tibetan Sound Healing
by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Marcy Vaughn
“Sound cannot be produced unless we breathe. The breath and the sound are so close to each other. So when we are producing sound, we are relating to the breath and vibration of the sound itself. In a sense it is very pure — the producer is the listener; the listener is the producer. In this way, we can experience the sound as self-arising.”
“When you sing A again and again, through the power and protection and vibration of A, the mind rides the prana, or breath, in the sound; and the physical, emotional, and subtle obstacles to recognizing yourself as changeless are cleared. This means that an outcome of the practice of the sound of A will be that, deep inside, you open. You feel it. If you do it properly, you will feel that openness. The moment you feel yourself open, that is a great success. You have found the ground, the base, which is openness.”
